A Team Environment
While the culture of a firm is sometimes hard to describe, it is very important – for employees, for clients and for the longevity of the company. TEC believes that the environment in which staff work every day has to be more than just comfortable – it has to be inviting, exciting, empowering, creative and professional. As online shoe store Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh says, “What goes around the office comes around to the customer.” TEC values the opinions of our employees and wants them to be happy in their work, in part because we know that happy employees = happy clients.
The environment at TEC – the one we promote internally, within the company, and externally, towards our clients – is guided by our core values of commitment, integrity, leadership and quality. We are also focused on fostering a team culture, one in which each employee feels that their accomplishments and contributions are valued by the firm’s leadership and one in which each employee feels empowered to contribute to the firm’s success, by helping another employee when necessary, providing honest feedback about the company’s path or by some other means.
You might compare the TEC team to a sports team. “Everyone on our team plays a vital part,” explains Bob Chaput, Senior Geotechnical Engineer. Just as all the people on a soccer team, basketball team or hockey team must work together to win a game, “all of the parts of the TEC team must work together for the success of our team and clients.”
