Professional, Certified Materials Testing
Tibbetts Engineering Corp.’s Materials Testing Laboratory is a full-service facility dedicated to providing quality control for building, roadway, and utility construction projects. Established in 1972 as a supporting branch of Tibbetts Engineering Corp., the laboratory has experienced continuous growth in staffing and technical capabilities to the point where it is a core operation of the Taunton office, servicing architects, owners, and contractors on all types of construction projects in Southern New England.
As an off-shoot of a well-established engineering firm, TEC’s laboratory maintains close ties to the design profession and fully understands the importance of monitoring and controlling the quality of the materials and installation methods during the construction process. Its staff of engineers and technicians has acquired a broad range of experience in terms of project types, understands construction means and methods, and is sensitive to the Owner-Designer-Contractor relationship.
Equipped with necessary laboratory and field equipment, the TEC lab can provide the full range of services required for the most complex projects. Its staff continuously strives to improve its capabilities and is encouraged to be innovative in its approach to servicing a project.
Emphasis has been placed on more rigid compliance with and enforcement of Chapter 17 of the Massachusetts State Building Code. Building projects require a program of structural testing and inspection by an approved agency which is independent, objective and competent. Owners, Architects, and structural engineers can look to TEC for assistance in compliance with those provisions of the Code.
TEC’s construction materials testing division has been providing knowledgeable, friendly service since our founding. We firmly believe that the capabilities and experience of our firm and personnel make our firm one of the best in the region – and here’s why.
TEC’s technicians are respectful, dependable, experienced and knowledgeable. Many, if not most, hold advanced certifications from top industry associations such as the Northeast Transportation Technician Certification Program (NETTCP), the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the International Code Council (ICC) and the National Institute for Certifications in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
As a division of S.W. Cole Engineering, Inc., TEC has access to eight other offices located in strategic cities and towns across northern New England to allow us to service projects efficiently. These offices give us the flexibility to schedule field testing services in an emergency or last-minute situation – saving our clients time and money.
